Turkey day

Boo and I always love this time of year.
It is even better with Ha Jyn around.
We have had a lot of fun watching her
react to all the things of this season.
She thinks it is awesome that we have a
tree with red and green balls on it. She feels
it her personal mission to pull them off whenever possible!
Playing with her friends in the morning.
We had a great time with our friends on thanksgiving.
We had Korean food for thanksgiving and pie for desert.
The combination sent me into a food coma. I literally slept
from 9P.M. to 8 the next morning.

Ha Jyn and her friend Celine really know how to party!
They are both at the stage where they love to stand,
so this basket was a big hit!

It has been getting really cold!
I don't remember it being this cold last year.
But than again, this time last year I had a lot more insulation.
When I was a kid every thanksgiving I would
raid my dad's drawer that had all his old t-shirts in it and wear
it while watching the Macy's thanksgiving day parade.
The tradition lives on!!

Ha Jyn and I are going to Colorado tomorrow!
We are going to stay with my best friend Kelli.
I am so excited I think Ha Jyn is going to love being around
Kelli's four boys!
So until next time smile big, especially if you have
a piece of uncontrollable hair!

Happy Ten months Baby Ha Jyn!

How did she go from this....

to this SO QUICKLY?!!!
Ha Jyn's new tricks of the month are:
1. Fake crying
2. Signing for "more"
3. Finding a way to get where she wants.
4. Coloring
5. Going from crawling to sitting up.
6. Screaming (mostly at Juny)... see video below.
7. Making breastfeeding very painful with her two new top teeth.
8. Wearing her hair in buns.
I love this stage. Her personality is REALLY starting come out.
We always thought she had a quite personality. Nope not so much.
Why did we think that someone quite would end up with us?
But truth be told she is pure joy to us!
Wouldn't change our squirmy for the world!
In other news, Ha Jyn got to chat
with her Uncle and cousins that just
immigrated to Australia. Yong Gil is Boo's brother,
Ha Bin is the older girl. She is holding Ha Rue
and Ha Min is the one closest to the camera. He and
Ha Jyn look a LOT alike.
I found out that our public library sells kids books for 10 cents each.
I now go their weekly and raid it.
One day I left Ha Jyn for about two seconds and came to find her here.
Now that she is getting around so fast, we had to
rearrange the house so that it is more Ha Jyn friendly.
We decided on going Korean as far as our
eating style. We bought this table in San Jose.
We are going to get rid of our dining room table and make that area
a play room for Ha Jyn.
We found this gigantic Korean store in San Jose. We walked in and felt like
we were back in Korea. It made me really homesick for Korea.
We also went to IKEA for the first time.
Half of our apartment is IKEA furniture we found on craig's list.
It was fun to actually go and see what it is like.
Boo and I thought it would be like CostCo with a big furniture section.
We were pleasantly surprised!
Our little boy!
Coloring, she is practically a Picasso!
Perfect hight for Ha Jyn!
Boo making Kim Chi,
for some reason it did not ferment though!
Until next time... Smile big!!
Especially if you have food all over your face!

Too beautiful to live.

After a four month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia my friend Megan passed away early monday morning. We met my last semester at BYUH. We did not have many opportunities to hang out, but she has made a permanent impact on me. She left behind her beautiful 4 month old daughter Rylee and her devoted husband Ryan. She was beautiful, she was funny, she was friendly. All week her death has been at the center of my mind. The last few weeks of her life, her lungs started to deteriorate. The doctors told her family that barring a complete miracle it was only a matter of time before she would die.
After this news, literally thousands of people prayed for a miracle. The only other time I had prayed for something that hard was when my mom got lost overnight in the mountains while she was hiking. After a while Boo and I were sure that she would pull through somehow. I remember telling Boo, "She is has to make it, God would not take her away... She has a baby." For reasons that are not understandable, he took her. I feel such sorrow for her baby, husband, family and loved ones. As bittersweet as it is, there is a miracle. That being that somehow her family will survive. Her daughter will grow up knowing that she has a wonderful mother watching over her. For me her passing has made the menial things in my life huge...
I hate walking the dog in the rain, however I am here and I am walking the dog in the rain. I don't like changing diaper after diaper. But I am here and I get to change my little squirmy's diapers. My husband has left his dirty towel on our bed for the 80th time, but on the other hand I am here and my husband is here. The towel may be there but we are here. I know God has something extraordinary for her. I know it was just her time. My thoughts and prayers are for her family, close friends and loved ones. I know that she has a forever family, that she will one day reunite with her husband and eventually her daughter.
Until that day, Aloha 'Oe to beautiful Megan who was just too beautiful to live.

Ha Jyn takes on Halloween

Ha Jyn had a great 1st halloween!
Although I doubt she fully grasped that she
was a puppy, she really enjoyed her costume.
We are going to leave it out so she can be
a puppy whenever she wants.

She made a guest appearance at Yama Sushi
on halloween. I think while we were there we missed the trick or treaters.
We only had about 5. All I can say is those 5 were pretty lucky. I think
I gave them at least 20 pieces each. There are tons of little kids in our complex,
but I think they went to richer neighborhoods to get candy.
Something I use to do when I was a kid too.
Boo's co-worker who is so incredibly nice,
but for some reason Ha Jyn begs to differ.
Before......
After.
In a sugar coma at church. She had no candy, but with
all the kids in our ward I think their sugar highs became
air born. She never falls asleep like this anymore.
At our church's Halloween party.
This is the family that takes care of Ha Jyn about four hours a
week while I work. We love them!

We wanted Ha Jyn to wear a coordinating wig, but to much hair
was falling out of them so we did not think it was a good idea.
Harry Potter's girlfriend, Harry, Thomas and a
sleeping tootsie roll.
I really wanted Boo to come with us to the
Halloween party so after much convincing he
took the day off. We never get to spend weekend time as
a family so in-n-out was in order!

I loved watching Ha Jyn get all excited for the new
things Halloween brought like pumpkins and costumes.
Can't wait to celebrate her first thanksgiving and christmas.
When she gets old enough to truly appreciate holidays we are going to celebrate all
the strange ones like national sandwich day.
I hope for her to think of everyday as some sort of exciting holiday.
