Friday the 13th a week late

This past 24 hours has been pretty bad.
Yesterday around this time (midnight)
we got a call from a creepy neighbor who lives on the
6th floor (6 floors down from us) of our building.
Early in January he got really scared of our
dog and tried to get her kicked out of our apartment.
Which went on unsuccessfully!
So last night we get this call from him on our intercom phone
he said, "You better be careful you had better watch your
back." Boo said, "excuse me?" and
crazy man said, "Yeah I see you two walking your dog
all the time and you had better be careful."
Boo than asked if he was threatening us and the crazy man
said, "yes I am". So Boo said we was going to
call the police and the man said, "yeah you'd better".
Crazy freaking man, we had not heard anything from this
guy in over a month and a half.
So today we went to the police office and filed a report.
At first the police officers said that they could not
do anything. I was so mad because almost every night I
spend sometime all alone while Boo is still at work. and while
I am really good at verbal abuse physical is a whole other level.
I also can creep myself out anyways. I was so stressed out because they
could not so anything to help us. I started to cry in the middle of
some random room in the police station with all these police officers staring at
the crazy foreigner crying. The police officer told me that I was just scared
because I am a foreigner. But am I right in thinking that most people
would be scared with that kind of threat?
Finally our Boss' s husband came and they started to take us seriously
and supposedly the guy is not suppose to harm us at all. If even tries
to talk to us her could get in trouble.
Even with that I still go outside at night only if I have a hammer in
my pocket in case I need to defend my self!
After that we went to the doctor and they said no "new developments"
for at least another two months. After all that great news, I came
to discover that we left my cell phone in the police office. So we had to
take a cab back to the police station. Than I went straight to work, taught
for about 6 hours and now I can finally go to bed and end this horrible day!
GOOD Night!!!

One of the many reasons I love Korea

Twice a month at around 7:30 in the morning our
apartment building has a recycling day.
So for two weeks we collect our recyclables and than
we go sort them out with the rest of our neighbors.
Korea has a really good program. First of all you keep
your food waste separate from your regular trash. Out side our apartment
are trash cans that are only for food waste. People come
and pick up the food waste and use for compost.
Also here you can recycle almost anything.
Because of that it usually takes us over two weeks
to accumulate enough trash of a tiny trash bag.
Overall Korea is pretty environmentally friendly.

My new Best Friend~ Yes I am a geek

I finally got an electronic dictionary.
I have wanted to get one for a long time.
It is really cool.
I can watch movies, listen to music, do calculations,
looks up words in Korean, Chinese, Japanese and English,
listen to the radio, look at pictures and more things I have not figured
out yet. It even has a stylus
pen so I can just use the pen on the screen and write a
word in either Korean or English and it will show me the
definition.
I don't mean to brag but isn't she beautiful?

Valentines Day

I spent the majority of Valentines
Day this year sick. I made it about
a block in our morning walk with
Juny before I had to turn around and go back
home. I was happy I did though because when
Boo and Juny came back from their walk Juny came
with flowers attached to her collar and Boo came with
a box of chocolates.
Considering that in Korea on Valentines Women give
Men chocolate I think Boo deserves some kind of award!

Our little family!

Korean Drumming

I first discovered Korean Drumming
while living in Hawaii.
I love watching performances they are so
filled with Energy.
Here whenever a new store opens,
or a restaurant they will hire a drumming team
to come and play. The store in front of our
apartment re-opened. I got to hear them from my house
for about an Hour or so.

The guy with the gun was part of the parade. I
am not sure why. The gun had to be plastic as only
people doing their military service are aloud to carry
guns in Korea.
A clip of some Korean drumming in Hawaii

Betty, Steve and their Mom get baptized!!

Two of our students, Betty and Steve and their mom
got baptized about two weeks ago.
I teach Betty and Boo teaches Steve.

We have had a lot of fun with their family.
Their Mom is one of my favorite people in Korea.
She isn't afraid to speak Korean to me and she
can understand my Korean!

At church the week she got confirmed, with
Sister Matthews from New Zealand.

Exercising at their house after one of
her delicious meals.

Getting beat horribley in Bad mitten by Steve

Juny did not seem to mind me losing.

What is Monterey??

Monterey is actually in California. The Monterey that I am talking about Boo getting into is The Monterey Institute of International studies.
Boo got into their MA Translation and Interpretation program.
I am pretty proud of him, it is the best school in the Western United
States that has his program.
Monterey is also famous for it's wildlife. Mainly Ocean animals.
There are Elephant seals, Otters and four different kids of whales
that migrate through in any given time of the year.
I am really excited to be living by the Ocean again.
As an additional bonus for me it is about one hour and forty-five minutes South of San Fransisco.

Leaving in April

Well it looks as if our time in Changwon is going to end
a little sooner than expected. We decided to leave Changwon in April
and come back to the states in early May.
To be honest I have really loved living in Korea, Korean culture, food, friends
and most of all family. However I cannot say the same for being an English teacher.
This quote from the movie Annie Hall describes what kind of teacher I
am perfectly.

"I remember the staff at our public school. You know, we had a saying, uh, that those who can't do teach, and those who can't teach, teach gym. And, uh, those who couldn't do anything, I think, were assigned to our school."

I'm glad that I found what I am not good at soon in my working life.
So hopefully as my Korean skills improve once we come back here
I will be able get a job I find fulfilling. But as for now I am happy to be getting away from a
job that makes me pull my hair out!

Reason's Why January sucked

1. It was cold
2. We got ripped off about $900 dollars
3. No "Medical miracles" to start off the new year.
4. Major Hag Won Drama that is not even worth getting into.
5. I got manipulated by middle school children.
6. We got ripped off by our vet
7. Someone tried to get Juny kicked out of our apartment.
8. I miss my American family and fun shaped macaroni and cheese

Juny Ju and I this morning

Juny Ju's Friends

Yesterday we got together with two friends who
have Malamute dogs. Usually Juny is always the
biggest dog. Compared to Ya Cha she looked like
a toy poodle.

Juny, Ya Cha and Ha Nur Ree

Ya Cha and I
Best Friends

For some reason Juny seems to think that my
slippers are her's. She is always carrying them
around everywhere and eating her snacks on them.

She is also obsessed with her pillow.

NuRi the only golden retriever I have seen in
Korea.

NuRi came to visit while we were playing
badminton.

Dinner

Yesterday we had the missionaries over for dinner. I feel bad because we never feed them really good food. But on the other hand when I was a missionary it was always the members that didn't cook well that were the best anyways....Either way it was fun to have them over.

Sorlar or 설날

Chinese New year or 설날 was the weekend before last.
It was great for two reasons: 1. Getting to see a lot of Boo's family.
2. Getting two days off of work.
We spent Sunday going to Jin Ju to visit Boo's mom with
Boo's brother Yong Gil and his family.
Than on Monday I made bread with a foreign friend.
On Tuesday Boo's brother Yong Ha and his family came to
visit us on their way up to Seoul. It was great and I think that
the US should instigate celebrating Chinese New Year as well.

Yong Ha's family and I.
Juny Ju Loved Yeo Jin (my Niece). She usually does not
warm up to people that fast. But she was playing catch with
her and Juny kept fallowing Yeo Jin everywhere she went.
Hyung Jun (my Nephew) on the other hand is not much of a dog person.
