Project re-vamp: How to turn your baby into Diana Ross

So in honor of Halloween we decided to
brake our window...
What really happened was our landlord told us that we needed
to move our crap off of our porch.
Part of that being our shoe pit.
Ever since living in Hawaii I have gotten use
to no shoes in the house.
In Korea no one ever would wear shoes inside the house.
To me it makes complete sense. I mean, think of all the junk one
might step on in a given day. Than think of tracking that all into your house.
I was a little mad, because for us it is a cultural thing. And if you were to
go to our house, you would see that our shoe pit on our porch is the least of the apartment complex's problems.
Anyways we decided to buy this old suitcase at a yard sale.
Upon going home the suitcase made contact with the window and.... Wha laa
an authentic Halloween decoration!!!
Ha Jyn loves her diaper wipe bags.
I hate the sharp corners on them, so I took
two bags and sewed them together.
It may be white-trash-ish but she loves crawling (moon
walk style) with her new toy.
As of now these are Ha Jyn's two favorite toys.
Her diaper wipe toy and her stuffed animal Miga, from Aunt Ja's
Vancouver trip.

Mom, here is the headband I made from my old shirt.
Lots of twisting and lots of glue.
My fingers are still a little burnt.

Joe's New Kidney

This is the Eves family.
Holli (the Mama in the picture) is my all time favorite and best
St. George friend. In high school we were co-members of the
geek council. We wore matching pocket protectors and everything! Durring softball
season we were also co-bench warmers.
My freshman year at the University of Utah Holli called to tell me that
her and the guy she had been dating, Joe were getting hitched.
I was skeptical that any guy would be good enough for the co-president
of the geek council. But upon the first three seconds of meeting him she
had my approval. My approval meant nothing lots to Holli
so she decided to go for it. Their first baby Aubrey was born while I was on my
mission and Jocelyn was born while we lived in Korea. They are expecting a new baby girl in November.

Holli is VERY talented in many ways, but extremely talented musically.
In high school, when we were not cruising the boulevard in her
1981 ford focus we were sitting around the piano while she
played any song on demand. (did I mention we were also
the two most popular people at school?)
We already decided I have to die first so that Holli can
play and sing, "Let it be" at my funeral.

Some of you might recognize her from Boo and I's Utah wedding reception.
Her and her sister Juli sang an incredible version of our song,
Danny's song.

Holli's husband Joe has had kidney issues since birth.
But it has become crucial that he gets a kidney transplant.
His brother is a perfect match, but due to Joe's condition,
getting health insurance has been proved impossible.
Click here to see an adorable video from Aubrey who explains better than I do.
Lots of love, hope and prayers to Holli, Joe, Aubrey, Jocelyn and Baby Catherine.
Here's to Joe's new kidney!!

Pops and Mamasita come to visit and Ha Jyn turns 9 months!

It is hard to believe that Ha Jyn is now 9 months old!
She still loves her Puppy Juny, so we thought it would
be fitting for her to be a puppy too!
We have started to branch on her solids now.
She likes the canned meats such as pureed
turkey.
Ewww I gag when I give it to her, but she likes it!
She says Dada a lot, gives kisses on demand (something we hope she forgets how to do
by the time she is in high school) and is
starting to learn how to give a hug and to high five.
She was going through some tuff sleeping patterns,
but a change in bed and nap times has fixed that.
(crossing fingers, please please don't let the last week just be a fluke!)
She loves to be tickled and to dance anytime anyone sings.
She rocked out all weekend to Granny J!
Top nick names for her are:
Squirmy,squirmy worm, squirms, Puppy girl,
girly girl, baby girl, silly bill, petunia etc.
Enjoying pizza with Gramps and Grams

tickling Grandpa
sharing her toys on the bus ride to the Hearst Castle.
Ready to go!
Hearst Castle was a little over the
top even for me.
There comes a point when to much is just to much.
My favorite thing was the outdoor pool.
It was ginormous and spotless. I literally had to
hold myself back from jumping in.

Every corner was intricate.
I took a lot of pictures that I thought my sister Carly who is
into historic preservation might like.

Ha Jyn enjoying her castle
Our new home

The ceilings were all imported from Europe.
Apparently the guy even had a warehouse
filled with art work.
Someone on the tour asked who the castle belongs to.
The tour guide answered, "William Hearst left it to the
people of California, so it belongs to them." My thoughts, "well
good I am a Californian, I am going to help myself
to that vase I saw in the 14th guest room
and pay off Boo's school loans! "
Actually I would take this dress
What bothered me was that he has several libraries with
thousands of books in them, all locked up.
It felt like they were wild animals all caged up.
I wanted soo bad to flip thought these old
travel guides.
Or his Shakespeare collection.
Ha Jyn even admired the ceilings.
Boo and Ha Jyn getting ready for some tennis.
Ha Jyn almost ran off with this.
Indoor pool with a balcony guest could
dive off of.
Ha Jyn playing with Grandma after the tour.
Over ten years ago my sister Jenn and I went on a road trip
up the coast of California. When we drove past the castle we saw a bunch of
zebra's at first I thought I was crazy so we turned around
and saw them again.
Turns out they are the descendants of the original Zebra's
that William Hearst had in his Zoo.
I tried to take a picture for Jenn,
but they ran off so this is the best I could get.
Elephant Seals.
I remember them looking different than this.

My parents, Ha Jyn and I went to a free
car and air show.
If I remember right this is similar to a car they had when
they were first married.
My mom next to the tiniest airplane ever.
I swear it was Ha Jyn size!
Ha Jyn and I next to a bigger one.
Their trip went by way way to fast, but we had a lot
of fun!
Ha Jyn loved the company. She looked all sad
when she woke up from her nap to discover them gone!
Hopefully we will see them soon.
Thanks for coming Grandma and Grandpa!

Project re-vamp: Take One- Julie Andrews style

It's been a little dulling with the
day to day same old same old.
With Boo in school we have little money
to play around with on new or for that matter used items.
With the help of my new sewing machine
and a couple cheap items I have been
revamping.
Kind of like how Julie Andrews took the curtains and made the
children their, "Play clothes" in The Sound Of Music.
I also found this blog which has TONS of great ideas I want
to try for Ha Jyn and I.

Revamp Polygamist dress.
Boo said that this dress made me look like
a polygamist. So instead of finding some sister wives
I decided to cut it into two. Making the
top a bolero and lining the top and skirt with
tulle to make it puffy.
Move over Sister Wives, I'm coming through!!
This is what I call the green monster. It was
a really huge dress that I got for 2 bucks at old navy. It looked okay when I was
pregnant and I could appropriately accessorize.
Now it looks like a hot mess. So I decided to try to take
a silky tulle and make a tutu type skirt.
And now it looks like an even hotter hot mess!!
This was a free chair that we got.
I came across some paint samples I got a long time ago.
And wha-la ugly chair turns into slightly less ugly chair!

This alligator was a onesie. Ha Jyn wore it once
and than when I washed it at our apartment's craptastic
Laundromat it got a stain that would not come off.
So I cut cut the alligator out and sewed it to one of
her dresses.
My first sewing project.
Worn out jeans+ scarf = Clutch.
My magic trick.
With the help of my trusty assistant Ha Jyn,
Watch as I magically turn this shirt into a....
Skirt!!!!
Stay tuned for more!
